where the time had gone.

On our first Christmas together, Scott gave me this card.

I loved it.
I still love it.
So much in fact that is hangs in our bathroom
where I can see it often.

And here we find ourselves,
again,
with the turning of the calendar.

Another holiday season over.
Turkey was eaten.
Snow fell.
The air smelled of pine and magic.
Fa la la.
A dropped ball.

January 6th.
31.
Happy facebook messages received.
Voicemail.
Instant message.
Text.

The pouring.
Of love and friendship.
Kindness.
From my people.
My treasures.

The annual 'round the table
overwhelming me with love.
And words.
Beautiful affirmations.
To be bottled up for the year.
And put on the shelf.
For pulling down
and spilling open
in times of self doubt
and disappointment.

My day makes me nostalgic
and happily melancholy.
For with another year
there is more.
More memories.
More love.
More story of us.
And Cash.
Ahhhh, *Cash*.
A family.
A family!
My family.
Our family.
A lovely
and welcomed
redefinition.

The constant evolution of self.

So that now and always
we will contently,
Sit.
And wonder.
In the end.
Where in fact
the time had gone.

::

Thanks for the love everyone.

Happy birthday wise friend. Sizzle said it exactly right - you really do make my world a better place. So grateful that your mom had an Aimee in her tummy.
